A Week By the Sea

I spent last week with sand and saltwater between my toes, sun on my skin, the roar of the ocean filling my ears, and the coastal breeze blowing through my hair. I’m a mountain girl, Virginia born and raised, but I’m convinced a piece of my heart will always be lost on the Carolina Coast. I was able to slow down, spend time with my family, and take time to step back and focus on God. I was also able to spend my birthday at the beach with one of my best friends and my family, there’s definitely no better way to kick off seventeen!

This trip reminded me to laugh, to love, and to embrace. In the stillness of the night and in the roaring of the sea, I could hear God’s tender whisper of love. The sunset over the marsh proclaimed God’s beauty. The crashing waves echoed His grace. Meals shared with laughter around the table reminded me to cherish my family and the time spent with them.

Our trip wasn’t perfect. We’re not a perfect family. It rained some days. Everything didn’t go as planned. We fought and complained. But we also loved, laughed, we learned, and we forgave. We enjoyed the sunshine. We made memories that we will never forget. That’s what matters. After all, that’s what a family vacation is all about, right?

So, here’s a little glimpse of my week by the sea-

Day 1! Beautiful day on the beach with Millie!

Starbucks and the beach, what could be better?

Perfect way to spend my birthday!

These flowers on the dunes at the State Park were beautiful!

Evening walk on the beach

Absolutely stunning view of the sun setting over the marsh on my evening run. I had to stop and capture a picture.

My chicken sandwich at BisQuit in Pawley’s Island SC. Yes, that’s fries on the sandwich. BisQuit was of my favorite restaurants we ate at!

We went to the Sea Turtle Hospital at the SC Aquarium in Charleston. I love sea turtles, so this was a highlight of my trip! It was very interesting and the turtles were so cute!

They’re mean to me sometimes, but I love them anyway!

Goodbye Beach…

Hello Fall.
